What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling uses a thin filiform needle to penetrate the skin into muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and connective tissue to loosen and lengthen tissues in the area. The targeted response is to relieve pain and reorganization of poorly formed tissue to manage neuromusculoskeletal conditions, pain, and movement impairments.

When is Dry Needling used in your Rehab?

Front Runner Physiotherapy believes that dry needling plays a small part in your overall treatment. Dry needling is an effective pain management tool and stimulates the healing cascade to provide an environment that allows the body to heal more effectively.

Why is Dry Needling used in your Rehab?

Dry needling has been proven to effectively treat multiple musculoskeletal conditions, including acute and chronic injuries. The purpose is to help muscle spasms/trigger points revert to a more normal physiologic state, disrupt the pain/spasm cycle, and allow improved circulation to the area. This is particularly helpful for muscle pain and resumption of normal force production or absorption by this muscle.
